I don’t know about you, but when I’m reading a page I often see something that makes me curious. My curiosity causes me to go to the Firefox search tool bar and enter a search. What is frustrating is that if I forget to open a new tab before I do the search, the original page I was reading is gone. I thought that I was just going to have to live with this, until now.

I just learned how to force Firefox to open a new tab each time I do a web search from the Firefox search toolbar.

Open up Firefox. Type “about:config” in the address bar. Scroll down to “browser.search.openintab” and double click the line. Double clicking toggles between the “default boolean false” value and the “user set boolean true” value. One you see the value “user set boolean true” in bold, you are done. Just close Firefox.
